Experimental Design Test
Grades from our first test are posted on Infinite Campus. A lot of students did very well, and some students will be disappointed in their performance. In class, we have discussed how study skills become much more important in middle school than they may have been in elementary school. All students who earned less than a 100% on the test have the option of doing test corrections. There is a form for this in my room and students will be told in a lot of detail how to fill this out and turn it in. These corrections are due by Thursday, September 6th. They will not be accepted late. Students may earn 3 points for each accurately corrected item. Thanks and have a great day!
Study Skills - Wow!
Hello, Students! Please take a look at the picture to the left. This is a study guide that one of your fellow students made to study for the test this past Wednesday. I also observed students who were studying with flash cards that they made! Do you think they did well on the test? How did you do? Something to ponder...

The First 3 Weeks
Dear Students and Parents,
We have had a fantastic first 3 weeks of school. We are learning all about making good observations and inferences, as well as conducting experiments. Our vocabulary words are:
Observation
Inference
Variable
Independent Variable
Dependent Variable
Control/Constant Variable
These words are in our science notebooks, along with many examples to study.
Our first test will be Wednesday, August 29th. Students should be taking their notebooks home to study. On this test, students should be able to demonstrate that they can identify the independent, dependent, and control variables in examples of experiments. They should demonstrate knowledge of the differences between inferences and hypothesis, as well as all variables in an experiment, and how to conduct good scientific experiments. Everything that has been recorded in their science notebook so far will help them study for the test.
